Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Intake Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing patient intake processes, verifying insurance information, and ensuring accurate medical documentation. This role requires strong clerical skills, familiarity with medical terminology, and experience with medical coding and billing procedures. The Intake Specialist will play a vital role in facilitating smooth patient flow and supporting the administrative functions of our medical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and collect necessary demographic and insurance information during intake
  • Verify insurance coverage, including Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation law, and other third-party payers
  • Accurately document patient information using medical records management systems
  • Perform insurance verification and pre-authorizations as needed
  • Manage medical documentation, including ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, HCPCS, DRG, and other coding requirements
  • Ensure compliance with medical billing standards and procedures
  • File and organize medical records efficiently within the organization’s filing system
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper documentation for billing and coding purposes
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Utilize financial software to process billing and claims submissions

Requirements

  • Prior clerical experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, HCPCS, DRG, and ICD coding standards
  • Familiarity with Workers' Compensation law and Medicare regulations
  • Experience with medical documentation and medical billing processes
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in using financial software and electronic health record systems
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance providers
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.54 - $27.14 per hour
