Job Overview

The Health Insurance Account Manager will provide customer service related duties to Shorelight’s current client base of international students at universities across the U.S. and is an integral part of the Marketplace team. He/She/They is a licensed insurance producer permitted to offer life & health products in all states we do business in. He/She/They will play a critical role with the day-to-day tasks, in both a student-facing role, as well as with university partnerships and our partnered insurance broker. The Health Insurance Account Manager will extend insurance plans to existing students, answers health insurance related questions, train campus team members about our products, launch marketing campaigns each semester, create tracking reports and will work closely with our health insurance broker. A deep understanding of insurance products, customer service and compliance is crucial. This role reports to the Head of Insurance Services on the Marketplace Team.

The Health Insurance Account Manager has a passion for customer service, sales, strong communication skills, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. He/She/They create(s) lasting and trusting relationships with the students, our campus team members and our partnered insurance broker. The Health Insurance Account Manager is a dynamic team player, a strategic thinker with the dual capacity to see the big picture and attends to detail. He/She/They is/are comfortable multitasking, adjusts quickly to shifting priorities and manages time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities

Student Health Insurance

  • Collaborate with top-ranked U.S. universities to sell the Shorelight Health Insurance plan and secure the sale with international students

  • Manage the re-enrollment process from a marketing and sales perspective and oversee the collection of premiums across all accounts

  • Manage the new business implementation process with other teams across Shorelight to create a smooth transition for the customer

  • Provide expert advice / customer service to international students on health insurance options, plan details and payment options

  • Facilitate enrollment processes, including communication with students, campus team members and our partnered broker

  • Help create marketing materials to educate students about the importance and benefits of our insurance product offerings

  • Work closely with our internal customer service team to assist with questions, issues, reporting, etc.

  • Create enrollment tracking reports using Salesforce and Microsoft Excel

  • Assist with process development and documentation

Compliance and Reporting

  • Maintain relevant insurance producer licenses in the states in which we operate

  • Generate reports on insurance utilization, trends, and student feedback for continuous improvement

  • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline insurance-related processes and enhance client experience

Security

  • Comply with Shorelight Written Information Security Policy, and all other Shorelight Information Security Policies and Procedures

  • Take responsibility for any Shorelight assets assigned to you

  • Promptly report any security events, incidents, or weaknesses to Shorelight Security

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, marketing, communications or a related field

  • 3+ years’ experience in insurance brokerage, higher education and/or a related field

  • Health Insurance Producer license and/or the ability to obtain a license within the first (90) days of employment

  • Experience and knowledge base of working in Microsoft Excel

  • Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from, the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) or Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR)

  • Salesforce CRM experience and knowledge base
