Our mission was inspired by the couple’s respective careers in biomedical science and art history, as well as their personal experiences and appreciation for the opportunities offered to them as newcomers to the United States.About the PositionThe Social Media Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and executing the foundation’s social media strategy. They are responsible for working with the Communications Officer to create engaging content, manage social media accounts, analyze performance metrics, and stay up-to-date with social media trends.The Social Media Coordinator is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about utilizing social media platforms to connect with audiences to share and advance the foundation’s mission and vision, and to help raise visibility of the foundation, the foundation’s prizewinners and grantees, and the foundation’s leadership in key online communities and platforms.ResponsibilitiesContent CreationDevelop creative and compelling content for various social media platforms. Keep up on current trends in social media content and dissemination, and develop content ideas and strategies accordingly. Work closely with the foundation’s internal team to curate and create high-quality content, including stories, images, graphics, and videos to showcase the foundation’s mission, collection, exhibitions, and programs. Develop and manage the foundation’s social media content calendar. Attend and document relevant museum exhibitions and events in New York City. Social Media ManagementDevelop content for the Vilcek Foundation and President Rick Kinsel on social media platforms, including copywriting, images, graphics, reels, and videos for Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Vimeo. Collaborate with the Communications Officer and Director of Digital to draft and schedule posts, respond to comments and messages, comment and engage with project partners and industry leaders in philanthropy, and engage with followers.Social Media StrategyWork with the Communications Officer to develop, implement, and refine the foundation’s social media strategy to align with overall goals. This includes setting objectives, identifying target audiences, and defining key performance indicators.Community EngagementFoster meaningful interactions with audiences by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner. Cultivate a positive and engaging online community. Monitor news items and media mentions of Vilcek Foundation prizewinners and constituents. Analytics and ReportingMonitor key performance metrics across social media platforms, such as reach, engagement, and conversion rates. Analyze data to gain insights into audience behavior and preferences. Compile regular, comprehensive reports and insights to guide strategic decision-making and improve social media strategies.Stay UpdatedStay informed about the latest trends and best practices in social media marketing. Monitor peer activity and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. Skills and RequirementsAt least 2 years experience working in managing social media or communications, with a willingness to learn.A BA in art or art history or demonstrated knowledge of art and art history fields strongly preferred. Proven experience managing social media accounts for arts and cultural organizations and/or nonprofits.Demonstrated ability to differentiate voice between social media accounts and tailor messaging to social media platforms. The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills. Detailed knowledge of the following systems is strongly preferred: Sprout Social, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Monday.com, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365. Additional preference will be given to individuals with robust experience in graphic design, videography, and/or video editing. The position requires the ability to work independently and within a team environment.Interest and enthusiasm for the Vilcek Foundation’s mission and knowledge of art and nonprofit cultural world is strongly preferred.Must be able to travel to relevant, pre-approved exhibitions and events in New York City to acquire image and video content for social media. These excursions will be reimbursed and/or included in the compensation package upon pre-approval of the project by the Communications Officer. The position requires a person who is well organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.Candidates must have outstanding interpersonal skills and a professional, courteous manner.The applicant must be authorized to work in the United States and based in New York City.The Vilcek Foundation reserves the right to change job descriptions.
