SUMMARY OF POSITION

Union Gospel Mission is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Part-Time (20 hrs. a week) Social Media Specialist to help manage and grow our presence across modern social media platforms. This role is ideal for someone passionate about storytelling, community engagement, and making a difference through digital media.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Results

Create, curate, and schedule engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and other relevant platforms
Design and edit photos, graphics, and short videos to accompany posts and campaigns
Build, monitor, and optimize social media ads to increase reach and engagement
Track and analyze performance metrics for posts and ad campaigns; adjust strategies as needed
Engage with followers, respond to messages, and help build an online community
Stay up to date on social media trends and best practices to keep our content fresh and relevant
Collaborate with staff to highlight stories, events, and the impact of UGM’s work

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Committed Christian, interested in being part of a ministry for the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill. Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ. In accordance with Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.

Strong communication skills including body language, verbal, and written.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to exercise compassion and discernment while modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Experience managing content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
Proficiency in photo/video editing tools and social media management apps
Strong written and visual communication skills
Experience with social media advertising and analytics
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
Passion for the mission and values of Union Gospel Mission
Criminal background check clearance – required.
Minimum four years of sobriety, if in recovery.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS

Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%

Work is primarily indoors and may require sitting, standing, bending, reaching - continuously.
Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about all of the UGM building and grounds – continuously.
Require lifting and carrying up to 65 pounds – Occasionally.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

AA or bachelor’s degree in marketing, Graphic Design or 3+ years related experience. (We will consider someone with a strong portfolio and a combination of experience and education.)
