Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Freelance Social Media Specialist to join our dynamic marketing efforts. This 100% remote position is perfect for an individual with a passion for digital storytelling and community engagement, based in Kibwezi or Makueni County. As a Freelance Social Media Specialist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our online presence, engaging with our audience, and supporting various campaigns across multiple social media platforms. You will work independently, managing your projects and deadlines, while collaborating closely with our internal marketing teams to ensure brand consistency and campaign effectiveness. This contract role offers flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to one of Kenya’s most impactful brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, schedule, and publish engaging content (text, image, video) across various social media platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Monitor social media channels for trends, mentions, and conversations, and engage with the audience in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in the development and execution of social media strategies and campaigns aligned with marketing objectives.
  • Analyze social media data and metrics, providing insights and recommendations for optimization.
  • Identify and engage with relevant influencers and community groups to expand reach and engagement.
  • Stay updated with the latest social media best practices, trends, and technologies.
  • Ensure all social media content adheres to brand guidelines and communication standards.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in social media management and content creation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms and content management tools.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Creativity and a keen eye for engaging visual and textual content.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A compelling portfolio showcasing previous social media work and campaign successes.
  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) for content creation.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing principles and SEO best practices.
  • Previous freelance or remote work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
